Sports

Walk and Talk
Each morning we have teachers on the oval who supervise students Year 1 - 6 from 8:15 am. Students walk and talk around the oval for some fitness and fun.
 
Interschool Sports
Students in Years 5 and 6 are involved in the West Akuna interschool sports program. Students travel to various venues by bus to play other schools in our district. This term the students are participating in their choice of soccer, touch and netball.
Dates for Term 1: 9/3, 16/3, 23/3,

Training times for sport will be:
* Cross Country 7.30-8.15am Tuesday
* Touch 8am Wednesday
* FitKids 7.45am-8.15am Friday
 
Interschool Sport Training
* Netball 8am Monday
* Touch 8am Monday
 
Lunchtime Sports
We always find interesting things to occupy our students at lunch. It may be a simple game of soccer, teachers versus students at netball, flying a kite or a handball competition.

Carnivals: 
We hold an annual sports day, cross country day and swimming carnival. 
Dates for these in 2018 are as follows.
  • Senior School Cross Country: Tuesday 20th March  (Years 4-6)
  • Junior School Fun Run: Tuesday 26rd March (Prep - Year 3)
  • Senior Athletics Day: Tuesday 5 June (Years 4-6)
  • Junior Athletics Day: Wednesday 20th June (Prep - Year 3)​
  • Swimming Carnival: Monday 3rd December (Years 3-6)

Representative Competitions

In 2017 our students have represented our school in Flagtag, NRL and volleyball. These competitions are lots of fun and we also perform very well!
West Akuna also hold trials for students who wish to participate in sports at district level.
