What’s happening at Pullenvale?
Stated on
the ACARA website, “In the Australian Curriculum, students develop ICT
capability as they learn to use ICT effectively and appropriately to access,
create and communicate information and ideas, solve problems and work
collaboratively in all learning areas at school, and in their lives beyond
school. The nature and scope of ICT capability
is not fixed, but is responsive to ongoing technological developments”
Here at
Pullenvale we use these Australian Curriculum ICT capabilities to guide our use
of ICT in a cross curriculum focus.
From Prep to year 3 our students have access to a lab of
30 computers allowing their teachers to book a few sessions a week to teach the
ICT capabilities across the various curriculum areas. These students also have access to iPads and
laptops in class for small group work.
From Year 4 to 6 our students enter a one to one device class which is
compulsory. The option of BYOD (Bring
your own device) or CYOD (Choose your own device) is available.
The ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) scheme allows parents to use an
existing family owned device.
The student will be required to have the appropriate software to meet
the class requirements. The ‘Choose Your
Own Device’ (CYOD) scheme provides parents with a range of devices to choose
from and elect to purchase.
